X – Prologue is an accordion book consisting of pages from second hand books, in which the previous owner has written his or her name. By deconstructing a book’s content, the story written by its author, the piece draws attention to a specific copy of the book as well as to its owner. Handwritten signatures are a manifestation of the anonymous readers as initiators of each narrative ever written, while names of the world famous authors remain unknown. The title of the piece, X – Prologue, comes from one of the signatures found; X/83. X usually refers to the unknown, or anonymous.
